Career Advising for Artists in College

This past year, in the midst of everything else going on, I had the pleasure of speaking with veteran bassist and educator Chris Kosky for her series Bass Ventures. Chris’ Bass Ventures helps illuminate the many ways bassists engage with their communities outside of the more “traditional” gigging pathways.

Chris and I met in person for the first time at the 2019 International Society of Bassists convention in Bloomington, Indiana. She had been on my radar since 2013, when I first became aware of her remarkable work with the premier band in the United States Air Force in Washington, D.C.

I adore the work that Chris is doing to show the multitudes that so many musicians embody, and I feel that this series aligns really well with the work that I have tried to do in mentoring college-aged musicians. I spoke about this work in depth in this article, and I would love to know what you think. Please drop a comment, and share it if it resonates with you.
